Grafoid, CVD Equipment Ink Joint IP Development Agreement to Create New Catalyst Material

Focus Graphite has reported that Grafoid and CVD Equipment have entered into a one-year Joint Intellectual Property Development Agreement. Focus Graphite has a 40% stake in Grafoid.

Grafoid is a Canadian private company that invests in graphene applications and an economically feasible manufacturing technique for meso-graphene and its graphene derivatives using raw, unprocessed graphite ore.

Gary Economo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Focus Graphite and Grafoid, stated that the renewable contract leverages both companies’ scientific know-how for the development of a catalyst material utilizing Grafoid's carbon nanotubes and graphene derivatives.

According to the contract, Grafoid’s expertise will be utilized for the development of novel intellectual properties in collaboration with CVD Equipment, including the detection and viability for producing a catalyst material using new combinations of graphene and carbon nanotubes. Moreover, the deal is a 50/50 mutual agreement, thus providing equal rights to both companies to share the intellectual properties created and the capability to further develop the joint venture on additional terms.

Mr. Economo commented that the contract is a significant advancement for Grafoid because awareness of its scientific achievements keeps on growing within the graphene community. As the largest stakeholder in Grafoid and for Focus Graphite shareholders, the contract with CVD Equipment marks the importance of Focus Graphite management’s decision to enter into the field of advanced graphene technology. The company’s long-term business platform leverages Grafoid's economically scalable mass production process for growth and development within the industry.
