The insecticide business of DuPont Professional Products is to be acquired by Sygenta, a company that offers plant and environment protection solutions. The DuPont insecticide business caters to the home pest control segment and professional turf and ornamental markets.
The deal will augment Sygenta’s product line for ornamental growers, lawn and golf course care professionals and will help consolidate its portfolio for home pest control solutions. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2012.
The terms of the acquisition dictate that Sygenta will own DuPont’s global insecticide business which includes intellectual property such as its well renowned brands Acelepryn and Advion for pest control and the staff. The formulated components and active ingredients pertaining to DuPont’s products will also be accessible to Sygenta through an exclusive supply and licensing agreement with DuPont. The value of the transaction is US $125 million.
Robert Berendes, Business Development Head at Sygenta, said that the acquisition will serve their objective of profitability enhancement of their Lawn and Garden business by leveraging high value genetics and chemistry to develop integrated solutions. He stated that the products gained by virtue of the acquisition feature exceptional environmental profile while incorporating superior insect control abilities.
