Corrugated plastic pipe manufacturer, Advanced Drainage Systems has commemorated the opening of its new production facility in Clifford, Michigan on August 28, 2012.
The new facility produces HDPE pipe for Northeast Michigan’s commercial and agricultural markets. It has already expanded the local offering of Advanced Drainage Systems products in Southwestern Ontario and Northeast Michigan. It is the company’s second pipe manufacturing plant in Michigan, supporting the existing facility situated in Owosso.
The Clifford facility is part of Advanced Drainage Systems’ announcement of $10 million capital investment in 2011 to expand pipe manufacturing capacity in the region. The facility spanning 25,000 sq. ft. is part of the company’s network of 55 production facilities across the world and now employs 15 workers.
Advanced Drainage Systems’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Joe Chlapaty stated that the company will increase employee count when the production increases. The company’s single wall agricultural pipe is witnessing robust demand especially in this field. Farmers have just suffered from one of the worst drought periods ever seen. A field water management system is not only capable of reducing the impact of a drought but also capable of improving crop yield by 25%.
When Advanced Drainage Systems established in 1966, agricultural field drainage systems were one of the first application areas of the company’s corrugated pipes. The company's products are now used as a major component in airports, industrial parks, housing developments, building complexes, highways, golf courses, sports stadiums, farms, and in the infrastructure of towns and cities across the US and the globe.
