Semiconductor Research (SRC), a global semiconductor technology research consortium of universities has honored professors for outstanding contribution to SRC backed research and education pertaining to semiconductor chip research in 2012.
The awards selection panel comprises representatives from the 12 member companies of SRC and the staff of SRC. Those faculty and research teams that demonstrated commendable effect on advances in semiconductor technology by virtue of talent and technology development were honored with awards. The awards were presented at SRC’s annual technology convention, TECHCON which was held on September 10 at Austin in Texas. The recent outcome of research funded by SRC is shared during this conference amongst hundreds of participants comprising, students, researchers and faculty.
Amongst the awardees are Dr. Jesus del Alamo and Dr. Andrew Neureuther. Dr. Jesus del Alamo is a professor of electrical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was awarded the SRC Technical Excellence Award for his SRC backed research work involving the improvement of compound semiconductor and silicon transistor technologies having applications in microwave, millimeter wave and RF systems. Dr. Andrew Neureuther is emeritus professor of electrical engineering and computer science at University of California, Berkeley. He has been honored with the SRC Aristotle Award for his exemplary pedagogy and his profound dedication to the students’ educational experience. Under the aegis of Professor Neureuther and backing from SRC, the research team at UC Berkeley have innovated the modeling and simulation of processing of integrated circuits and have also used the developed tool to study issues and potential innovations in emerging manufacturing methods.
