FLEXcon, Spire and Arkema have partnered to develop a new solar module bill of material (BOM) that has received Master UL certification.
Development of a new photovoltaic module design was also part of the collaboration. FLEXcon is an adhesive coating and laminating company.
Spire had earlier recommended BOM for solar module manufacturers, which will help them save cost. The newly approved BOM is an additional BOM and is the third one to be added.
The FLEXcon multiGUARD backsheet is a UL approved component that plays a major role in effective and safe design of solar modules. The Director, Photovoltaic & Barrier, at FLEXcon, Michelle Ostiguy stated that FLEXcon has collaborated with Spire and Arkema to provide the new backsheet to the market.
The Underwriters Laboratories has provided the Master UL Listing. It is a globally independent organization that provides safety certification and testing of products. Integrators of photovoltaic systems need PV modules that are UL 1703 certified.
Spire, a global solar company, provides turnkey manufacturing lines and capital equipment for production of photovoltaic modules, as well as procurement, engineering and construction integration services.
Arkema, a major supplier of photovoltaic materials solutions, has partnered with FLEXcon in the development of the FLEXcon multiGUARD backsheet product. Arkema’s offerings include its Kynar Film products. Arkema supported FLEXcon in choosing the components required for the additional BOM.
The new solar module design from Spire which includes the FLEXcon multiGUARD backsheet provides a wider choice for manufacturers in selection of UL approved BOM and module design.
