Balcas, the leading provider of wood products in Ireland and Britain, has introduced a unique prefinished MDF moulding that employs the Cerfis technology developed by Eastman Chemical Company.
The moulding which is labeled KOTA and branded as a “Paint No More” moulding will be unveiled for the first time in public at the Timber Exposition. Balcas and Eastman will showcase the product at stand D2 at the expo. The Timber Expo will be held from September 25 to 26 at Coventry. The technology used and the application and advantages of the KOTA MDF moulding will be presented to the attendees at the expo by representatives from both Balcas and Eastman Chemical Company.
By adopting the simple three fold process of KOTA entailing CUT, FIX & FILL, the product can be fixed in place. The product eliminates the need to prime and paint at the time of installation and subsequent to installation the FIX & FILL solution attaches the product if only gluing is required or fills up the hole created by the nail if the moulding is being pinned. The end result is a flawless installation that enables savings in time and money.
The Cerfis technology which Balcas has licensed from the Eastman Chemical Company offers dimensional stability to the mouldings, reduces the incidence of twisting and warping and helps impart uniform finish on any type of surface. The technology is free from volatile organic compounds.
Paul Madren, Global Market Development Manager at Eastman Chemical Company commented on the benefits of their Cerfis technology and stated that Eastman hoped to replicate the success achieved in the United States in Europe too through their association with Balcas.
