New York-based private equity company, Arsenal Capital Partners, has acquired IGM Resins. Arsenal Capital Partners typically invest in healthcare and specialty industrial middle market ventures. IGM Resins supplies intermediaries like acrylates and photoinitiators worldwide to adhesives, inks and ultraviolet (UV) radiation cure coatings industry.
Established in the year 1999, IGM Resins has its headquarters in Netherlands. The company achieved a completely integrated portfolio consisting of products like polyester, Urethane Acrylates, epoxy Acrylates, polyether Acrylates and UV curable monomers by acquiring the UV Acrylates business of Cognis which also includes the Photomer brand. IGM Resins has adopted an expansion strategy in the direction of the UV radiation cure market. The company operates manufacturing facilities and offices in the United States, Europe, China and South America.
The IGM Resins acquisition is the fourth investment carried out by Arsenal Capital Partners in 2012. The other three companies are Plasticolors, Fluoro-Seal Holdings and the Colorants business of Evonik.
John Huiberts, CEO and founder of IGM Resins, stated that Arsenal was chosen owing to their belief in the latter’s support towards IGM Resin’s development in the promising inks, UV coatings and adhesives markets. John Huiberts will retain a minority stake in the company and will continue to remain active in the company’s operations.
Arsenal Partner and Co-head of the Specialty Industries division, John Televantos stated that the acquisition of IGM Resins enhances the expansive portfolio of Arsenal and their acquired expertise in the specialty materials and chemicals industry. Apart from Fluoro-Seal Holdings, other investments by Arsenal in the specialty chemicals and materials sector include Chromaflo Technologies and Royal Adhesives & Sealants.
