Air Products San Fu, a subsidiary of the Air Products company in Taiwan, has bagged a long -term contract to supply ultra high purity nitrogen and other industrial gases in bulk to the new phases of the fabrication complex of United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) in Taiwan at the Tainan Science Industrial Park (TSIP).
An air separation unit along with the necessary bulk gas system and transportation pipelines will be constructed by Air Products San Fu at the Fab 12A complex of UMC. Air Products will supply helium, hydrogen, argon and oxygen in addition to nitrogen to the four 300 mm wafer fabrication phases starting from number four, five to number eight. The air separation unit is scheduled to be operatedion from the latter half of 2013. Air Products San Fu is already supplying the first four phases of the 300 mm fabrication facility of UMC at the TSIP with bulk gases through pipelines. The new contract from United Microelectronics consolidates the market position of Air Products in the TSIP as the company already catering s to leading TFT-LCD and semiconductor manufacturers in the park with ultra high purity bulk gases.
Air Products supplies specialty, atmospheric and process gases in addition to related technology, equipment and performance materials globally. The company has a presence in over 50 countries across the world and employs over 20,000 resources. The solutions the company offers include natural gas liquefaction, coal gasification, refinery hydrogen, advanced coatings, adhesives and semiconductor materials. The company reported US $10 billion in revenues in the 2011 fiscal year.
