Potlatch Corporation's Consumer Products Division announces the launch of SepticSure(TM) bathroom tissue, a unique product to help tissue users in homes with septic waste systems as well as users of RV and Marine sanitation systems.
One in four U.S. households uses an independent septic waste system, according to EPA published data. Without special periodic maintenance, these systems may be subject to clogging that can result in expensive service and repairs. Potlatch's Consumer Products Development Group designed SepticSure to help homeowners maintain clear flowing lines from the home to the septic tank.
Bruce Woodlief, Director of Marketing for Potlatch Consumer Products, notes that SepticSure offers septic and RV/Marine users both rapid dissolvability and two-ply thickness and softness. "These benefits were thought to be mutually exclusive. Potlatch has changed this perception of tradeoff with SepticSure, a product that offers premium brand quality attributes and dissolvability consistent with maintenance needs of septic and RV/Marine sanitation systems."
While several national brands claim their products are septic safe, Woodlief points out that tests indicate those products dissolve much slower than SepticSure and may require more than one flush to clear the bowl. Potlatch tests indicate that SepticSure dissolves up to 8 times faster than the leading national brand and up to 6 times faster than the leading 2 ply RV/Marine brand tissue.
Consumer focus group research revealed that some septic system users were unaware of the proper maintenance practices required for their septic waste system. Most welcomed learning more about proper maintenance of their system. Septic users liked the idea of a soft, 2-ply, rapid-dissolving bathroom tissue and were quite willing to pay a premium price for a product that was considered useful to their septic system.
SepticSure will be presented to a variety of retail channels of distribution over the next several months. According to Woodlief, "SepticSure will address a real consumer need and will offer a new product niche for mainstream retailers of bathroom tissue. It will also provide a superior alternative to existing specialty retailers (sporting and outdoor) who already carry lower grade RV and Marine tissue." Another key channel will be hardware and home improvement retail chains who historically have not sold specialty bathroom tissue.
As part of the product promotion support, Potlatch Marketing has developed a consumer website, www.septicsure.com, that will provide additional product information as well as helpful links to other informational sites on septic systems and RV/Marine needs.
