Thomson Reuters and Forbes Name Air Products Among World’s Most Innovative Companies

For more than seven decades, Air Products has been applying innovative solutions to energy, environment, and emerging market needs, earning the company recognition as one of the world’s most innovative companies by both Thomson Reuters and Forbes magazine.

Air Products recently made its debut on Thomson Reuters’ 2013 Top 100 Global Innovators list, an initiative of the IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters. The program, which was initiated in 2011, honors the 100 corporations and institutions around the world that are at the heart of innovation as measured by a series of proprietary patent-related metrics. The methodology is based on four principle criteria: overall patent volume, patent grant success rate, global reach of the portfolio, and patent influence as evidenced by citations. Among the Chemical Industry sector, Air Products is the only industrial gas company represented on the list.

Forbes magazine also recognized Air Products on its 2013 list of The World’s Most Innovative Companies. The methodology used by Forbes relies on investors’ ability to identify firms they expect to be innovative now and in the future based on an established innovation premium metric. Air Products has earned a spot on the Forbes list every year since its inception in 2011.

“Innovation is deeply rooted in our culture, beginning with our founder, Leonard Pool, who started the company on what was then a revolutionary idea—the “on-site” concept of producing and selling industrial gases,” said John E. McGlade, chairman, president and CEO at Air Products. “Air Products people are passionate about understanding their customers’ challenges and delivering unique, sustainable solutions that help them boost energy efficiency, increase productivity, enhance product quality, and improve environmental performance.”
