HTI Plastics, a world leader in custom injection-molded plastics manufacturing, announced it has installed the largest plastics injection molding press in its history, with the state-of-the-art capability of manufacturing large, thin-walled parts.
The Krauss Maffei high-speed precision molding press will be used initially to manufacture natural gas fuel cells.
"We added this press to help one of our customers continue growing in the natural gas industry, which makes it the latest example of HTI's commitment to technology to stay ahead of our customers' needs," said HTI Plastics president Troy Just. "This press allows us to continue pushing the limits of plastics manufacturing in partnership with this customer first, and then with others who need this capability." He said the press will be used to substantially expand the company's services in a variety of areas for the benefit of HTI customers.
According to Just, one of the press' most important features is its ability to manufacture large, thin-walled parts. The 1,800-ton injection-molded plastics press has the capacity to handle large 330-ounce plastic shot, the raw material fed into the press to create manufactured parts. The addition of the 1,800-ton injection-molded plastics press is yet another example of HTI Plastics' commitment to being an industry leader.
As a division of PCE Inc., HTI Plastics benefits from the corporate commitment to capital investments in injection molding equipment that help maintain high product quality, while improving efficiencies and capacity.
