Goodyear Tires Chosen as Original Equipment for 2006 Chrysler's and Dodge's

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announces that its premium auto tire, the Assurance featuring ComforTred Technology, has been chosen as original equipment for 2006 Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum R/T and Dodge Charger R/T models. Goodyear's supply of ComforTred tires for these high-image cars represents the first original equipment position for the tire line, regarded as the most successful new product launch in the company's history.

Goodyear engineers said the Assurance ComforTred tires (size P225/60R18) were tested and tuned for the vehicles on Goodyear's 7,250-acre test facility in San Angelo, Texas. The Assurance ComforTred was originally introduced as an aftermarket tire in early 2004, and quickly became a popular choice for consumers who wanted comfort, quiet and peace of mind.

"From the beginning, the goal was a world-class tire line targeted at luxury and premium vehicles. Our Assurance line of tires were built with this objective," said Mike Parnell, Goodyear's vice president, original equipment tires.

For the Goodyear Assurance featuring ComforTred Technology, added cushion between the tread and the belt provides a smooth ride.

According to Sam Landers, team leader, Goodyear tire development, "The Assurance ComforTred was designed with a super-absorbent cushion layer. More cushion results in more absorption of vibration, whether the tire is traversing a railroad crossing or simply rolling down an average roadway. And by absorbing more vibration, it makes for a smoother, quieter, more enjoyable ride."
