JEC Group, the world’s leading professional organization for the composites sector, is announcing another exceptional JEC Asia this year for its 7th session, with a day focused on automotive on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.
Wednesday November 19: a day dedicated to automotive, with distinguished guest Alain Prost. Composite materials are used extensively in extreme applications such as motor sports, because they make it possible to build lighter, faster, and safer high-performance vehicles.
During JEC Asia, Wednesday November 19 will be dedicated to automotive composites all day long, with an I.C.S. (Innovative Composites Summit) Conference on “Carbon: Challenges, Solutions and Opportunities”, and highlighted by the presence of Alain Prost. “In support of this session, for which Singapore is our country of honour, we wanted to bring in a renowned guest to meet the Asian market: Alain Prost, four times Formula 1 world champion,” said Ms Frédérique Mutel, JEC Group President & CEO.

Focus on composites in the automotive industry Alain Prost’s presence highlights the focus on composites in the automotive industry, which is showcased at this JEC Asia session. Along with exhibitors and visitors with connections in the automotive industry, no less than four JEC Innovation Awards Singapore this year will be related to automotive composites:
- KC TECH (Republic of Korea) with “Microwave curing of a CFRP acoustic cover for automotive applications”
- FRP Recycling Center (Japan) with “Waste FRP recycling”
- Dongsung Chemical (Republic of Korea) with a “High cycle speed moulding method”
- German Aerospace Center – DLR (Germany) with an “Innovative composite winding technology for CNG storage in the automotive industry”
Speakers from around the world will present papers and posters addressing the automotive industry, including Langzauner (Austria), Grundtech Polymer Consultants (India), HOPE Technik (Singapore), and KCTECH Korea Institute (Republic of Korea), to name a few.
Composites in vehicles: must-see innovations at JEC Asia
The Live Demo Zone and the Innovation Corner will showcase composite parts and products, among which the automotive industry will be well represented with the race car from the National University of Singapore’s Formula Society of Automotive Engineering (NUS FSAE), the SunSPEC 3 solar car from Singapore Polytechnic, and the Electric EVA Car from TUM Create (Singapore), specifically designed as a taxi for tropical megacities, with a monocoque structure made entirely of carbon fibre reinforced polymer.
