Bibby Scientific announced today that it has launched the Techne® Calibration extrusion tool cleaning service using an Industrial Fluidised Bath (IFB) for safe and effective cleaning of steel tooling, components, systems and parts within 48 hours.
Techne's IFB-based cleaning provides easy removal of any paints, polymer, adhesives or oils from tools used in broad manufacturing and research industries, including plastic moulding, rubber and polymer extrusion.
Techne's IFBs are already used widely by plastic manufacturers for efficient and safe cleaning of tools at temperatures of up to 600°C, through instant heating of the gently abrasive fluidised medium, aluminium oxide powder.
The method offers a number of advantages over alternatives such as blow-torch and oven-based cleaning, including greater safety and control; reduced metal fatigue and tool damage; no unpleasant fumes or environmental risks; shorter cleaning times and better cleaning results.
Techne Calibration is now offering IFB-based tool cleaning services for companies of all sizes in the UK and Europe that may not have their own IFB or that may need extra IFB-cleaning capacity on demand.
The IFB can accommodate tools and components within a cylindrical chamber of 25 cm diameter by 30 cm deep including dies, breaker plates, nozzles, tools, tips and extruder screws.
"IFB-based tool cleaning is a much safer and faster approach that prolongs the life of tools," said Jim Bratherton, Product Manager, Techne. "Our new tool cleaning service provides a reliable and cost-effective way for companies of all sizes to restore their tools and preserve the quality of their manufacturing processes."
"Techne IFBs have been successfully used for cleaning extrusion tooling for over 50 years and our in-house tool cleaning service is quality guaranteed - or we'll re-clean for free," added Jim.
