Boeing Selects Goodrich Wheels and Carbon Brakes for 737s

Boeing has selected Goodrich Corporation to supply wheels and carbon brakes for the Boeing Next-Generation 737 airplane fleet. Goodrich currently provides the wheels and steel brakes for all Next-Generation 737s.

Goodrich's DURACARB(R) carbon brake technology will provide 737 operators significantly lower life-cycle cost over the current steel design. A portion of this cost savings is directly attributable to the weight savings attainable with carbon versus steel brakes.

Brian Brandewie, President, Goodrich Aircraft Wheels and Brakes, stated, "Our team is honored to be bringing our carbon technology to one of Boeing's best selling platforms and help to make it an even better value to the airlines. Additionally, our selection demonstrates the continued confidence Boeing has in Goodrich and follows Boeing's selection of Goodrich to provide wheels and electrically actuated carbon brakes for the 787 Dreamliner. We appreciate that confidence and are excited about continuing our long-standing relationship with Boeing."

In addition to wheels and brakes, Goodrich supplies a wide variety of products and systems as original equipment on the 737, ranging from landing gear to evacuation systems to lighting.
