BASF to Acquire Sunoco Plasticiser Business

BASF have signed a letter of intent for the purchase of Sunoco’s plasticiser business. They expect to close the deal before the end of the third quarter of this year. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The purchase covers Sunoco’s site in Pasadena, Texas, USA. It entails the land and phthalic anhydride and oxo manufacturing plants as well as the plasticiser esters, 2-ethylhexanol and phthalic anhydride. The Sunoco plant at Neville Island is not part of the transaction but will produce plasticisers for BASF under a tolling agreement.

The Sunoco plant will become part of the BASF’s North American plasticiser business and will expand there product range.
