Alcan Cable introduced today a new CSA-approved, multi-conductor armoured cable assembly to mitigate the effects generated by harmonic currents in electrical systems. The N2™ NUAL®, a type ACWU-90 cable with two full size neutral conductors, is a cost-effective solution for use in commercial and institutional buildings such as banks, data centres, hospitals and computer laboratories.
“The extensive use of electronic devices, such as computers and electronic lighting ballasts, is responsible for a growing number of problems with harmonic currents in the electrical systems of commercial and institutional buildings. N2 NUAL cable will greatly reduce total installation costs for building owners and operators running critical systems whose reliability could be affected by harmonics and who are looking to minimize that risk,” said Ian Hewett, President, Alcan Cable.
N2 NUAL is a flexible, interlocked aluminum armoured, PVC-jacketed cable. It has five 90º C wet-rated cross-linked polyethylene insulated NUAL conductors and one bare NUAL bonding conductor. The cable is factory-assembled, eliminating the need for conduit, conduit fittings and the labour-intensive operations of pulling in conductors, threading and forming conduits.
Recognized as the only fully integrated aluminum cable supplier in North America, Alcan Cable is a leading manufacturer of aluminum and aluminum alloy cables for the utility, residential, commercial, institutional and industrial construction markets.
