BASF Sell ABS Trademark

BASF have sold their ABS specialty trademark Ronfalin® to British company JGP Perrite, part of Vita Thermoplastics. BASF bought this trademark from DSM in 1999, but continued to have it manufactured in their Geelan (Netherlands) plant, which is scheduled for closure at the end of May.

JGP have been manufacturing Ronfalin under licence since October 2001 and have developed expertise with the material, including the ability to develop it for specific applications as well as distribution.

The sale of the Ronfalin is consistent with BASF’s strategy of focussing on large volume standard ABS products. A position that they will be able to strengthen when their new Antwerp-based plant comes on line.
