BASF Acquire Plasticiser Business from Sunoco

BASF have completed their acquisition of Sunoco’s, phthalate plasticiser business for US$91 million.

The deal includes a manufacturing site in Pasadena, Texas site with the land, phthalic anhydride, and oxo alcohol manufacturing plants, and the phthalate esters, 2-ethylhexanol, and phthalic anhydride businesses. Sunoco will continue to manufacture plasticisers at its Neville Island, Pennsylvania site for BASF under a tolling arrangement.

The acquisition increases the array of linear and branched plasticisers that BASF can now offer its customers.

Pthalate plasticisers are used to increase the flexibility of vinyls, making them suitable for applications such as plastic films, cables and medical equipment.
