Specialty chemicals and polymers distributor Azelis has completed the acquisition of two companies, Heinz Schlegel AG and Meister AG based in Moehlin, near Basel, Switzerland.
Azelis CEO Udo Wenzel said, “The acquisition of these two companies sees the creation of Azelis Alpine SA as owner of the two operating companies. Azelis can now begin to offer distribution capabilities to the highly sophisticated Swiss and Austrian markets. The two companies serve a number of our core industry sectors, namely plastics and polymers processing, coatings, adhesives and rubber industries. We will use this as a platform for expanding activities and developing new relationships with principals and customers.”
Both companies, who were owned by the same shareholders, sell into these sectors with Meister selling also own branded products which Azelis will now promote also elsewhere in Europe. In 2006, they had combined sales of €15 million (25m SFR) and employ 8 staff. Their operations have ISO and ESAD certification.
Markus Imhof, Managing Director welcomed the deal saying: “The best way to secure Schlegel and Meister’s future is in the stimulating and dynamic environment of Azelis which will enable us to maintain our local identity and roots in our traditional markets.”
