Metal Bulletin Selects Novelis as Aluminium Fabricator of the Year

Novelis, the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, was named Aluminium Fabricator of the Year, one of the top prizes at the Metal Bulletin Global Awards for Aluminium Excellence held today at a ceremony in Geneva. The company's Yeongju, South Korea, Recycling Center was also honored as the Best Brownfield Technology Project winner.

Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power segment has completed statutory negotiations in most of units serving the paper industry. As a result of these, the workforce in Finland will be reduced by a total of 660 positions.

Momentive’s New Niax 2-EHA-Free Tin Catalyst for Flexible Foam Applications

Momentive Performance Materials Inc. (MPM) will launch Niax Catalyst D-25, a new tin catalyst free of two ethyl-hexanoic acid (2-EHA), at the 2013 Polyurethanes Technical conference September 23-25 in Phoenix, Ariz. MPM is introducing Niax Catalyst D-25 in response to the industry need for an alternative material without 2-EHA, which is a chemical listed on California’s Proposition 65.

Huntsman Agrees to Buy Rockwood’s Performance Additives and Titanium Dioxide Businesses

Huntsman Corporation and Rockwood Holdings, Inc. announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement whereby Huntsman will acquire Rockwood’s Performance Additives and Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) businesses. Under the terms of the agreement Huntsman will pay approximately $1.1 billion in cash and assume unfunded pension liabilities estimated at $225 million as of June 30, 2013.
