Eastman Chemical Company announced today that brand owners, product designers and molders in the infant care market can now achieve greater design flexibility and provide consumers with enhanced product performance by using Eastman Tritan™ copolyester for products like baby bottles, pacifiers and sippy cups.
Consumer demand is growing for clear, plastic infant care products that are durable, can be cleaned in the dishwasher and are free of bisphenol-A (BPA). Products molded from Eastman Tritan™ copolyester deliver the advantages of products made with traditional copolyesters, such as clarity and toughness, but also offer heat and chemical resistance, improved design flexibility, and ease of processing. Tritan™ is also manufactured without BPA.
Molders can use the extrusion blow molding (EBM) process to produce bottles with Tritan™, and the injection molding process allows for the production of pacifiers and sippy cups using Tritan™.
Evenflo Company, Inc., a leading company in infant and juvenile care products, is the first to launch a new line of baby bottles manufactured with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. Infant care products need to be resistant to the wear and tear of active family lifestyles, and the new Purely Comfi™ line offers parents bottles that have glasslike clarity to view graduated product levels clearly, while also being shatter-resistant. The bottles are now available in 6- and 9-ounce sizes at Target and Babies“R”Us, with additional retail outlets to follow.
"Our goal is to help the companies we do business with strengthen relationships with their customers by offering truly differentiated products,” said Deborah Baum Crain, director of copolyester innovation, Eastman Chemical Company. “Eastman Tritan™ copolyester reaffirms the dedication of our company and our customers to providing quality infant care products that meet consumer demands.”
