Rhodia Take Control of Their Chinese Surfactants and Specialty Chemicals Subsidiary

Rhodia announced today it has taken full control of its Chinese subsidiary Wuxi Specialty Chemicals Co Ltd (RWSC) buying back the 30% participation of its partner, the Wuxi Chemical Industry Group. This strategic move is in line with the policy of Rhodia to grow in China, which is considered as a major area for development in the coming years.

RWSC, which was established in March 1994 close to Shanghai, is a leading producer of surfactants and specialty chemicals in China, serving the personal and home care markets as well as industrial applications.

Rhodia strengthens its industrial footprint in surfactants and specialty chemicals in this country and plans to further expand the facilities and technologies in its RWSC’s plant to meet the very strong demand of the Chinese market with products specifically tailored to the local needs and enhance its relationship with major players.
