Dayton Superior announced today that it has acquired the assets of Unitex Chemicals, a Kansas City, Missouri, developer and manufacturer of chemical-based solutions for concrete construction and repair.
With a 40-year history, Unitex specializes in the protection and restoration of concrete used in bridges, highways, airports, marine and other applications. The company’s products include epoxies, cures and sealers, form releases, cementitious materials and specialty items.
“We’re very excited about the addition of Unitex to our product lines,” said Rick Zimmerman, Dayton Superior president and chief executive officer. “Unitex will strengthen our presence in the repair and restoration market, and support our continued expansion into engineered and specialty products. This acquisition also complements our increased focus on highway and bridge projects.”
Dayton Superior will retain the Unitex brand name and Kansas City location. Unitex owner John Grissinger will continue as president of the business.
“By combining our resources with Dayton Superior, I believe Unitex will grow even faster,” said Grissinger. “Dayton Superior is taking positive steps to position the company for increased market share when the economy rebounds. After working closely with them for 20 years as a customer, I’m excited and confident that Dayton Superior is a great home for Unitex.”
