Scientex Places Order for 8 Up Cast Stretch Film Line to GEC

Gloucester Engineering Co. ("GEC"), one of the leading providers of equipment for the plastics extrusion and converting industry, today announced that it has received a new order for a complete multi million dollar 8 up cast stretch film line from Scientex, a major customer in Malaysia.

Scientex has been listed on the Main Market of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad since February 1990. They are one of the world’s largest producers of stretch film, with an annual production capacity in excess of 100,000MT/year. The company has had a relationship with GEC for more than 15 years, and recently took delivery of a similar GEC 8 up cast stretch line. The new equipment, which will showcase GEC's latest designs, will enable Scientex to further increase its total production capacity to 120,000MT/year with the ability to produce stretch film of various thickness ranging from Scientex’s new generation super thin 10 micron stretch film to 17 micron seven layer film. Engineering design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of the machine will be done at GEC’s newly consolidated facilities in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It is expected to be completed and shipped in June of 2011.

Carl Johnson, President of GEC, said, “Scientex is a valued customer, a leader in their industry, that has worked with us for many years. We are pleased to be able to meet their continuing needs for new and advanced systems as they ramp up their thin gauge Elite, Elite Plus, and Elite Premium stretch film production. We are proud to contribute to the success of our customers as we complete our turnaround and regain our market leadership position."
