Oldcastle Precast, the leader in the manufacture of precast concrete products, has supplied the precast concrete foundations, Cell Blocks®, to Holy Cross Energy who is constructing a new substation communications site on top of Red Table Mountain - White River National Forest, Colorado.
The precast foundation is one of the most complex foundations designed to-date, with hundreds of feet of grounding wire, 4 sets of anchor bolts that had to align on 45 degree angles across 9 different Cell Blocks®. To top off the complexity of the foundation these Cell Blocks® were installed on top of Red Table Mountain at 11,731 ft above sea level.
The Holy Cross Energy - Red Table Mountain Communications Site CE includes a microwave tower that will be approximately 30 feet in height and (3) three buildings totaling 880 sq ft. The substation buildings will house the communications equipment for Holly Cross Electric. Oldcastle Precast provided (20) twenty Cell Blocks® and (4) four anchor bolt blocks.
The Cell Blocks® foundation system is one of Oldcastle Precast’s newest innovations in precast concrete products. The Cell Blocks® system is a precast, post-tensioned foundation system specifically designed for the wireless and utility industry.
