Cliffe Packaging Acquires Structure-Flex's Polypropylene FIBC Division

Cliffe Packaging based in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent is one of the UK's leading producers and suppliers of flexible packaging materials.

The company has recently acquired, for an undisclosed sum, the polypropylene FIBC division of the Norfolk based bulk packaging solutions provider, Structure-flex Limited

Cliffe Packaging's acquisition enhances the company's already extensive portfolio of products which include single trip disposable and multi-trip re-useable polypropylene FIBCs, stretch film, sacks and pallet covers, all of which are part of the bulk packaging solutions used by the world's food, pharmaceutical, and bulk chemical industries.

Announcing this acquisition, Cliffe Packaging Managing Director, David Dawber, said: "Over the past twelve years, we have built a business with an enviable reputation for the provision of first class products, accompanied by an extremely high level of customer service. Structure-flex has a similar reputation, and we believe the acquisition of its polypropylene FIBC product range provides our business with a springboard for significant global expansion".

At any given time, Cliffe Packaging has over GBP1 million of finished goods stock in its UK warehouse; as well as enabling the company to provide the just-in-time supply chain service demanded by many of its customers, this stock also enables it to satisfy instant supply opportunities from companies which have, more often than not, been let down by their traditional suppliers.

Ian Doughty, of Structure-flex, explained that the sale of the polypropylene FIBC division was a strategic move by the company, saying: "The sale of our no longer core polypropylene FIBC business will enable us to focus on further growth in other divisions of our business where we specialise in products manufactured from heavy duty re-enforced pvc coated fabrics. We will now be concentrating on the design and supply of re-useable bulk containers for demanding applications and an increasingly diverse range of customer led specialist products. We will also continue to supply commercial vehicle curtains, vehicle graphics, as well as outdoor and indoor signage and point-of-sale materials.
