AdvanSource Biomaterials to Supply Advanced Aromatic Polycarbonate Polyurethane to Access Scientific

AdvanSource Biomaterials, producer of advanced polymer materials for medical devices, has signed a multi-year agreement with Access Scientific to supply ChronoFlex C aromatic polycarbonate polyurethane.

The new POWERWAND allows most hospital patients to have one and only one needlestick for vascular access.

Access Scientific will use the material in the new power-injectable catheter, POWERWAND. The company has also received exclusive rights to use ChronoFlex C in midline catheters, which have length range of 3” to 8’ as per the definition of Centers for Disease Control and Epidemiology.

ChronoFlex C specialized polycarbonate polyurethane optimizes the performance of catheter. A clinical study was conducted initially to test the ChronoFlex C’s performance when integrated with Accelerated Seldinger Technique and other WAND characteristics of the POWERWAND. The study showed that optimum performance of catheter was achieved in the entire record of vascular access. Study results will be presented at the Infusion Nurses Society’s annual meeting.

The POWERWAND medical device allows most inpatients to have only a single needlestick for vascular access all through their period of hospitalization. The catheter can be used to extract blood for diagnostic testing and to administer medications or fluids.
