Momentive Performance Materials, a provider of silicones and specialty materials, has launched four advanced technologies in personal care. These innovations cover areas such as surface modification, sensory enhancement, consistent spreading and softening and conditioning.
The four platforms were highlighted at the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Suppliers’ Day 2011, which was held from May 10 to 11 in New Jersey.

Numerous additives in the list provide multifunctional advantages, which can help formulators and manufacturers of personal care products to reduce production and processing times as well as to improve product application properties.
Today’s consumers expect improved performance capabilities of personal care products. These capabilities are achieved using Momentive Performance Materials’ silicone technology. The company has developed the first silicone polyether in the industry for personal care application and the first silicone for 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner.
The surface modification platform improves various hair care and skin formulations, enhances transfer resistance and provides protection, long wear and shine. The sensory enhancement technology produces a silky softness in creams, shampoos, conditioners makeup and styling products. The softening and conditioning as well as the consistent spreading technology platforms provide long-lasting softness and excellent conditioning to hair and enable consistent wetting for improved pigment dispersions and distribution of organic oils and active ingredients.
