Ducommun, a supplier of critical components and assemblies for commercial aircraft and military, energy market, medical field and industrial automation, announced that one of its business units, Ducommun AeroStructures (DAS), has received a contract from Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) to manufacture Bombardier CSeries aircraft fuselage skins. SAC is the partner and China-based supplier of Bombardier. Ducommun AeroStructures (DAS) will supply the fuselage skins made of advanced aluminum alloys to SAC.
Ducommun’s President and CEO, Anthony J. Reardon stated that the company is happy to extend its existing partnership with SAC and be a part of the Bombardier CSeries aircraft initiative. The company’s expertise in developing and fabricating enhanced aluminum alloy structures will benefit SAC and Bombardier, as well as the CSeries aircraft program. The contract period will be till 2015 and the manufacturing of fuselage skins will be carried out at Ducommun’s facilities in Orange and Gardena, California.
DAS is a producer of large structural parts and assemblies in aluminum and specialty alloys such as composites, metal bond and titanium for several commercial aerospace and military applications.
