Eco Building Products (ECOB) announced that it has landed 22 containers of Red Shield coated lumber in Haiti.
It has initiated the process of unloading containers loaded with the lumber at its wholesale distribution facility for lumber in Port Au Prince.
The company said that the distribution of the lumber that was previously sold to building supply companies in Haiti would be done in the coming week. Additional containers are on their way to the ECO NO-BOIS wholesale lumber facility. The move will improve ECOB’s position in the wholesale Haitian market, as the market for rebuilding was gaining momentum.
ECOB’s prior shipments of lumber had been to non-profit organizations. Now it had gained knowledge about the importing and exporting procedures in Haiti for commercial goods. ECOB’s representative in charge of ECO NO-BIOS operations, Gils Aubry, met the Haitian President and discussed the advantages of ECOB’s Red Shield coated lumber in the reconstruction process for the country.
The company’s lumber can be used to construct building structures up to 5 stories high. The structures are cost- effective and can withstand seismic movement, which buildings made of concrete cannot. ECOB’s Red Shield coated lumber also addresses issues associated with fire, termites, wood-rot and mold. Structures using coated lumber can be erected within a shorter period than that required for concrete construction.
