A new RollVIA plasma system has been introduced by Nordson MARCH. This is a self-contained vacuum system, along with roll-to-roll material handling feature meant for the printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing environments.
Exclusive gas flow and vacuum technology, managing greater temperature with accurate tension and roll speed control, latest designs of electrodes, peripheral assistance for uniform plasma treatment during desmear, surface activation and substrates’ etchback applications are included in this new system.
R2R, reel-to-reel processing and web processing are the other names of Roll-to-roll processing. This is a method used to build electronic devices on a flexible metal of plastic foil roll. The only R2R plasma treatment system, RollVIA, has incorporated the plasma chamber, vacuum system, 40 kHz power supply, and control electronics in a single enclosure. The system includes a 2030W x 2032D x 2428H mm compact footprint in conjunction with a combined pump package. The design is maintenance-friendly having four doors for complete rear and front access allowing easy loading of substrate.
Three models of the RollVIA Plasma System are available for the clients to meet the throughput and processing speed necessities and web thickness of up to 500 mm. Every design has integrated features like efficient usage of gas, precision temperature management, and a fast vacuum pump for better process cycle times. During rewind functions, reliable control has been ensured by an edge guide detection method based on optics.
Additionally, the RollVIA system has extended the Nordson MARCH VIA series, including MaxVIA and ProVIA Plasma Systems, by means of patent-pending and patented plasma technologies. The company is currently utilizing the RollVIA in China.
