Tecate Group has expanded its ultracapacitor line called PowerBurst Series with the addition of ultra-low profile module line called PBF Series.
PBF Series of Ultracapacitor Modules
The PBF Series of modules is designed to meet temporary burst and back-up power requirements in applications wherein space is a constraint and weight is an issue. Its design integrates hermetically sealed prismatic cells made of stainless steel. This novel design of the RoHS-compliant modules offers them a very low profile and capacitance ranging between 1 and 5 F. The active balanced cells are UL recognized.
The PBF Series’ design flexibility is further improved, as its parts are in three voltages between 5 and 10 VDC. Its electric double layer capacitor modules have duty cycles of more than 500,000 and operating life of 10 years. These modules are widely used in solid state drives, automatic meter readers and in a variety of wireless transmission applications such as portable and handheld medical, industrial and consumer devices. They are suitable for memory retention, battery swaps, ‘dying gasp’ notification and soft shutdown, thanks to their back-up power functionalities.
The minimal equivalent series resistance parts are capable of allowing designers to scale down the primary system batteries and handling the power delivery issues in applications demanding peak or power burst functionalities. PBF modules are offered in a variety of sizes, capacitances and voltages. Their operating temperature range is between −40° C and +70° C and capacitance tolerance is ±20%. They are offered with a JST ZHR-2 quick connect assembly and wire leads. They are also offered in custom configurations.
