A high-strength polyethylene-coated HVAC duct tape, AC50UL, has been introduced by Intertape Polymer Group (IPG), a developer, manufacturer and marketer of a variety of film and paper based pressure sensitive and water activated tapes, woven fabrics, specialized polyolefin films, and packaging systems for retail and industrial use. The UL 181-rated high quality tape is ideal for flexible air connectors and air ducts.
The AC50UL is a 14 mil cloth duct tape is developed with an aggressive adhesive in order to produce a strong bonding on duct surfaces. It exhibits superior adhesion strength in various temperatures, ranging from sub-zero to 200°F. Thus, the tape with excellent adhesion property helps meet the performance demands of current HVAC contractors. The material’s superior flexibility enables easy molding when it is applied to flexible duct.
Other features of the tape include resistant to mold growth, humidity and other HVAC duct contamination. It is also flame resistant and UV resistant, and has a tensile strength of 38 lb/in and an elongation rate of 21%. Jobsite benefits offered to contractors include UL markings visibly printed on the tape for easy and fast identification, easy hand tear, and eliminates the need for a dispenser.
The AC50UL duct tape complies with the UL 181 B-FX standard, which means that the product meets the flexible duct specifications for HVAC systems required by several building codes across the U.S. It is available in black and silver color and in two different sizes: 48 mm x 54.8.7 m and 72 mm x 54.8 m.
