Heraeus to Showcase Solar Cell Metallization Pastes at Intersolar North America 2013

The Heraeus Photovoltaics Business Unit will be attending Intersolar North America 2013 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California from July 9th through 11th, 2013, showcasing several new products during the exhibition.

New to the Heraeus portfolio of metallization pastes are the SOL202 Series, the SOL9350 Series and several pastes for PERC cell designs. The SOL202 Series is their new, low silver content back-side tabbing pastes. The SOL9350 is their newest series of pastes for N-type cell designs, formulated for p+ wafer surfaces. For PERC cell designs, Heraeus will highlight two non-fire through aluminum pastes, the Heraeus Al5120 and the Al5169.

"The purchase of the Ferro Corporation's Solar Paste Business has brought to Heraeus complementary glass and silver technologies which has strengthened our overall R&D capabilities in new paste development. By combining the R&D and product portfolios' of the two organizations, and taking advantage of both companies intellectual property, we are able to develop and commercialize new pastes at a faster rate," according to Andy London, Global Manager of the Photovoltaics Business Unit. He continues to state, "We believe that the release of the SOL202 Series will be the lowest silver content back-side tabbing pastes in the industry while providing excellent adhesion and solderability. For PERC cell designs, based on current alpha testing, our new pastes will have strong market acceptance. For the front-side of conventional crystalline solar cells, we continue to integrate innovative technologies into our formulations that will improve our pastes' performance and further decrease paste cost per watt."

Heraeus will also exhibit their SOL9610 Series of front-side metallization pastes which is gaining wide market acceptance. The SOL9610 Series provides finer line resolution, improved contact to silicon wafers and has demonstrated cell efficiencies greater than 19%.
