Boeing Marks Three Decades of Aerospace Electronics Production in El Paso

Boeing and the City of El Paso today marked three decades of advanced electronics manufacturing for products ranging from spacecraft to fighter jets, bombers and missiles.

“For 30 years the men and women working at Boeing El Paso have demonstrated a dedication to quality and employee involvement,” said Rosaura Corral-Perez, Boeing El Paso site leader. “The skill sets and track record here will continue to help Boeing meet current and future customer needs.”

Boeing El Paso opened in 1983 and has supported major programs such as the International Space Station, the B-1B bomber, Patriot missiles, Minuteman ICBMs and the F-15 and F/A-18 fighters. To further enhance its competitiveness, the site is pursuing U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certification and preparing to take on electronics work for commercial aviation.

“I applaud Boeing’s efforts to remain a viable entity in our community by diversifying its business base here and improving competitiveness,” said El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser. “I also look forward to continuing the great partnership between El Paso and Boeing, which has been beneficial both to the company and the community.”

Boeing El Paso has consistently supported the local and regional community in its first 30 years and will continue to partner with business, government and nonprofit organizations to strengthen the El Paso and border region. In addition to high levels of employee volunteering, ongoing Boeing charitable and business investments in the region include scholarships, sponsorships, and college recruiting efforts at University of Texas at El Paso and New Mexico State University, as well as education initiatives related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
