Exova Metech, the calibration and metrology division of Exova, the global testing, calibration and advisory services provider, has signed a new contract with the leading defence and security company Saab, worth up to £20 million over five years.
The agreement, which comes into effect today (1 April 2014), is an extension of the previous long-term agreement where Exova Metech was selected as Saab’s preferred supplier in the field of calibration and metrology. The contract further confirms Exova Metech’s position as one of the leading providers of technically demanding services to the defence and technology industries.
Exova Metech will provide services including calibration and maintenance of measurement tools and instruments. The initial work will be mainly within Sweden but, as the contract is for global services, there are plans for a further roll out beyond Sweden.
Magnus Strömer, head of group procurement at Saab, said: “Our extended cooperation with Exova Metech will continue to improve resource use and reduce our total costs in this area through the handling and servicing of our measuring equipment. The renewed partnership also means we will always have a critical eye on our own measurement operations through Exova Metech’s long standing experience and expertise.”
Hans Åberg, managing director of Exova Metech, said: “Saab is a world-renowned company and expects the very best in technically demanding services. This renewed long term contract demonstrates that they can rely on our capabilities and our commitment to delivering a service aligned to the needs of the advanced aerospace and defence sectors.”
