Electro Scientific Industries Introduces New UV Laser Drilling Systems

Electro Scientific Industries, Inc., a leading supplier of innovative laser-based manufacturing solutions for the microtechnology industry, today announced the release of its Model 5335xi and Model Flex5335 UV Laser Drilling Systems.

Based on ESI’s next-generation 5335 platform, these systems are direct replacements of previous generation systems, 5330xi and Flex5330, with many additional benefits at a lower price.

The 5335xi and Flex5335 use the same robust beam positioning technology field-proven in hundreds of 5330 laser drilling systems. The tools also benefit from various technology advances such as solid-state, real-time power control, which enables more robust processing with lower overhead than previous-generation systems. Both configurations have been updated with ESI’s state-of-the-art software and operating system, providing enhanced tool usability, process logging, and development functionality. Many parts of the hardware have also been refreshed to take advantage of the updated operating system and relieve customers of part obsolescence concerns. All these benefits have been accomplished at lower cost, allowing ESI to pass on savings to its customers with a lower overall cost of ownership.

“ESI has many loyal customers currently using processes developed on 5330xi and Flex5330 systems,” commented Michael Darwin, Industrial Product Division VP and General Manager. “By refreshing these products on our new 5335 platform, ESI will ensure continuity for these customers’ processes while offering better performance, service and support. I am excited about the release of these updated systems, which aim to establish an even higher benchmark for the UV laser drilling industry.”
