A new magazine is being launched in March 2007 dedicated to the powder injection moulding industry. Powder Injection Moulding International will be published on a quarterly basis and will cover the global metal, ceramic and cemented carbide injection moulding industries.
The powder injection moulding (PIM) industry has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years. Global PIM sales are estimated to be approaching $1 billion in 2006, with a wide range of application areas from automotive and aerospace to medical, dental and electronics applications. Metal injection moulding (MIM) makes up around 70% of PIM sales with ceramic injection moulding (CIM) a further 25% and cemented carbides 5%.
Nick Williams, Managing Editor of Powder Injection Moulding International , stated that the launch of this new publication is a reflection of the growing acceptance of PIM as a viable manufacturing route to compete with technologies such as precision investment casting. “The PIM industry has achieved exceptional levels of growth through technological innovation and the ability to meet the demand for ever more complex products. The publishers of Powder Injection Moulding International are dedicated to providing this industry sector with an informative and exciting quarterly publication. At present there is no commercial or technology magazine that is dedicated to the international PIM community. It is our belief that the global PIM industry is now of sufficient scale and maturity to warrant a high quality international publication that focuses entirely on PIM technology and its potential as a competitive manufacturing process.”
Powder Injection Moulding International is published by Inovar Communications Ltd, publisher of the International Powder Metallurgy Directory (www.ipmd.net). Inovar’s publishing team brings together many years of publishing and conference production experience in the wider powder metallurgy and plastics industries.
Powder Injection Moulding International ’s Consulting Editors include leading figures in the global PIM industry including Professor Randall German, CAVS Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Mississippi State University, United States; Dr Yoshiyuki Kato, Epson Atmix Corporation, Japan; Dr Frank Petzoldt, Fraunhofer IFAM, Germany; and Bernard Williams, former Executive Director of the European Powder Metallurgy Association and industry consultant, UK.
