Bayer Technology Services GmbH (BTS), including the German sites in Leverkusen, Dormagen, Wuppertal-Elberfeld and Krefeld-Uerdingen, and the BTS subsidiary Bayer Technology and Engineering (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, has once again been awarded the DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Certificate by TÜV Rheinland. The Group certification also includes for the first time the BTS subsidiaries Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik BTS GmbH in Wendelsheim, Germany, and Zeptosens, Bayer (Schweiz) AG, in Witterswil, Switzerland.
The former Bayer engineering unit Central Technology-Engineering, which was among the units placed in today's BTS as part of the restructuring of the Bayer Group in 2003, first had its quality management system certified to the stringent requirements of ISO 9001 in 1995. The scope of this certification has since been successively extended.
During a 5-day audit, TÜV Rheinland reviewed the quality capability of the major BTS business process and examined BTS’s leadership, administration and management processes. The auditors spoke with nearly 20 managerial employees from all levels of management, including BTS Managing Director Achim Noack. The TÜV audit report attests to BTS the quality capability of its processes and the performance of the HSEQ system.
"We constantly need the certificate to document our quality to our customers, of course, but it’s even more important that we master our processes and continuously improve," said Dr. Edwin Roth, Head of HSEQ Management at BTS. Roth added that international harmonization of the most important processes and the consistent elimination of a few remaining weaknesses will be the focus of the next phase of work. "The entire BTS management team supports this awareness. After all, quality and professionalism are major elements of our corporate culture."
