Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer 3D DMA from Psylotech

The 3D DMA, dynamic mechanical analyzer from Psylotech is used to test polymeric materials to produce data for use in numerical simulations such as FEA (finite element analysis). Alex Arzoumanidis points out the main differences between the 3D DMA and other more conventional DMA instruments such as:

  • Local strain measurement
  • The ability to measure strain axially and transversely enabling the determination of dynamic young's modulus and time dependent dynamic Poissons ratio and the ability to determine a full 3D property matrix
  • The direct measurement of sample temperature
  • The use of an electrodynamic actuator with load cell
  • Heating uses forced air for faster heating
  • The ability to take measurement in the temperature range -100 to 200°C

Run Time - 4:43min
