NanoMaterials Technology (NMT) has inked a contract with Lagos Industria Quimica (Lagos Brazil) to supply High Gravity Controlled Precipitation (HGCP) technology and equipment.
The technology will be used for production and distribution of nano-precipitated calcium carbonate additives in South America and across the globe. As part of the contract, Lagos Brazil will also receive technical and functional support from NMT during the distribution of the additive in Brazil and several other regions of Latin America.
Nano-precipitated calcium carbonate is used in light chemicals, adhesives, architectural materials, plastics, rubber, paper and other industries. Lagos Brazil’s new manufacturing facility will commence operation in 2012 and will produce 10,000 tons of nano-precipitated calcium carbonate annually.
By 2015, the global calcium carbonate market is estimated to reach 108.5 million tons and Latin America alone is forecast to show 3.6% increase in CAGR in the next few years.
NMT’s Executive Chairman, Charles Sher stated that the collaboration with Lagos Brazil is a major milestone in the deployment of the HGCP technology. The company is happy to receive the support and encouragement from International Enterprise Singapore to market its products and technology abroad.
