US Water Services’ subsidiary, U.S. Water Ethanol Process Technologies has introduced COR, an additive to enhance corn oil extraction from mechanical separation equipment at dry-mill ethanol facilities.
The additive will prove beneficial for ethanol plants that have corn oil separation equipment or planning to purchase corn oil separation equipment in the future.
US Water Services has created a reproducible field test process that is tailor-made to suit the specific needs of individual facilities. Implementation of COR programs has increased the extraction of corn oil by 25% to 100% based on the barriers or effectiveness related with individual mechanical separation. The additive also helped in extending the process between cleaning and deposits that were removed easily.
An ethanol plant in the U.S. was generating roughly 0.22 lbs/bushel of oil without the use of additive. But after implementing the COR product, the facility started producing 0.48 lbs/bushel of corn coil with a significant reduction of solids and cloudiness in the appearance of the corn oil. By using the COR program, the plant was able to double its income from increased corn oil production.
