Praxair Signs Hydrogen Supply Contract with Hemlock Semiconductor

Praxair, one of the world’s largest industrial gases companies that serve a wide range of industries, including metals, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, electronics, food and beverage, chemicals, aerospace and others, announced that it has entered into a hydrogen supply agreement with Hemlock Semiconductor.

Under the terms of the agreement, Praxair will deliver high-purity hydrogen to new polysilicon production plant, which is currently under construction in Clarksville, Tennessee. For prompt delivery, Praxair will construct and operate an on-site liquid hydrogen producing facility and will deliver hydrogen by truck. The facility will commence operation in 2012.

Praxair Electronics’ President, Anne Roby stated that the company is looking forward to continue its relationship with Hemlock Semiconductor to meet the increasing demand for semiconductors and photovoltaics. In addition, the company supplies hydrogen and nitrogen to Hemlock Semiconductor’s polysilicon plant in Hemlock, Michigan, Roby said.

Dow Corning’s Direct Procurement Manager, Stuart Bolland stated that the contract with Praxair will offer a reliable and economical source of hydrogen for the company’s Clarksville plant.
