Momentive Specialty Chemicals’ division, Oilfield Technology Group (OTG) has opened a new facility in Batesville, Arkansas to produce and deliver additional resin coated proppant products to customers in the oil and gas industry.
The manufacturing facility in Batesville will produce Black Pro proppant, a new product line, which delivers innovative resin bonding technology.
OTG continues to expand its manufacturing capacity to meet its customer demand for specialty proppants in the developing horizontal fracturing market. The development of the Batesville plant extends the company’s manufacturing grid and will assure continuous and secure delivery of specialty proppants for the industry.
The Black Pro proppant products provide improved proppant embedment resistance even under cyclic stress. They maintain fracture width and higher pack permeability compared to traditional curable proppants. Black Pro also enhances proppant pack integrity under cyclic stress found in the present shale wells. They have faster bond strength development feature, which enables quicker post-treatment flowback at greater drawdowns than other curable resin coated proppants. Resin coated proppants are mainly employed in the hydraulic fracturing process. The products help to enhance productivity from the gas and oil well by increasing the fracture flow rate from the reservoir to the wellbore.
In early 2011, OTG has upgraded its Cleburne, Texas facility and has also carried out process expansions in other facilities. The business currently operates six manufacturing facilities and serves the Canadian and the US markets.
