Momentive Specialty Chemicals, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, announced that it has completed the expansion of its technical center in Stafford, Texas and is now celebrating the opening ceremony.
The Stafford technical facility is Momentive’s chemical research hub in North America. The facility will include a new technology group which focuses mainly on product innovations for growth of the business. The group will enhance the company’s existing research and development initiatives by investigating new products and technologies, as well as new market opportunities.
The 14,000 sq ft expansion was worth $3 million and it will enable the company to add 20 new research and technical positions at the Stafford site. The expanded center comprises an office space, applications and testing areas and new research labs.
Momentive Specialty Chemicals has also plans for future expansion at the site for addition of another 35 researchers. The additional expansion project is expected to commence this year and end in the first quarter of 2012. Once completed, 45 associates from Momentive’s office in Houston will be shifted to the Stafford location.
In 2007, the company commenced operations at the Stafford technical center. The shifting of additional workforce from Houston will further increase the center’s functions to include epoxy business, supply chain, finance and marketing.
