The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) has announced that entries are welcomed for the second International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC), a part of the NPE2012 plastics exhibition to be conducted from 1 to 5 April 2012 at the Orange County Convention Center located in Orlando, Florida.
The IPDC is conducted by SPI, the founder and sponsor of the NPE plastics exhibition. The last date of submitting entries is 1 February 2012. Entries can be enrolled online at the website, www.plasticsdesign.org. Entries can be for components or for final products. Participants can be any company or individual in the supply chain including OEM, equipment builder, material supplier, processor, tool maker or designer.
Participants can submit their entries in any of the 18 end-use market categories, ranging from transportation to agriculture. Each category carries an award and a grand award will be presented to the most innovative product or component in the contest as a whole.
At NPE2012, products or components to be enrolled for the competition will be exhibited at Technology Central, the South Building of the Orange County Convention Center. An award ceremony will be conducted on 3 April 2012 to felicitate winners and their supply chain contributors.
People can submit their votes online at the website for a People’s Choice award. Apart from the People’s Choice award, SPI will select a panel of plastics and design experts to nominate the winners for all other awards. Moreover, a separate panel of experts selected by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) will nominate the recipient of an award jointly sponsored by the Plastics News, an industry newspaper and the ISDA.
