Targray Signs Deal to Distribute Silicon Carbide Powders

Targray Technology International, a provider of advanced materials and focused solutions for the solar industry, has signed an exclusive distribution deal to supply Washington Mills’ CARBOREX silicon carbide product line in the Taiwanese market.

Washington Mills is a leading manufacturer of superior quality sub-micron powders and micro grits. Through this distribution deal, Targray Technology International now supplies a comprehensive line of precision-sized powders and tightly graded, superior-quality silicon carbide grains that cut silicon into ultra-thin wafers for higher silicon yields at a lower cost.

Washington Mills uses finest quality raw materials for the production of its CARBOREX silicon carbide powders in order to obtain particles that have improved wear resistance and toughness. This superior-purity crystallized silicon carbide offers customers the capability to cut ultra-thin silicon wafers from silicon, while achieving improved silicon yields and decreased wafer slicing cost.

Washington Mills’ General Sales Manager, Stig R. Ofstad stated that Targray Technology International has already had a strong relationship with all prospective customers of Washington Mills in Taiwan. Ofstad added that Targray Technology International’s proven sales history in the Taiwanese photovoltaic industry and deep-rooted relationships with wafer makers in Taiwan will step up Washington Mills entry into that major market.

According to Cheong Wei Chua, who serves as Targray Technology International’s Product Manager of Solar Consumables, Washington Mills’ CARBOREX silicon carbide product line is an ideal product for wire slicing silicon into ultra-thin wafers. He commented that the company is happy to distribute the product line to Targray’s customer base in the Taiwanese market.
