Robert Wooler is a Dresher-based commercial heat treating company. A vacuum furnace from Solar Manufacturing was recently acquired by the company. The modified vacuum furnace is a Model HFL-5748-2EQ with features including an advanced operator interface, SolarVac 3000 control system, and accurate temperature programmer and control with multi zone auto tune PID.
The horizontal front-loading furnace has a load capacity of 3,500 lbs and measures 36” (width) x 36”( height) x 48” depth work zone. This Class 2 furnace has a temperature uniformity of +/- 10°F per AMS 2750-D standards, and generates a maximum operating temperature of 2,500°F. This furnace, however helps the company to provide improved customer service with its flexibility, availability, and capacity of furnace for martensitic, austenitic and precipitation hardening stainless steels.
According to the president of Robert Wooler, Philip “Biff” Keidel, Jr., the new vacuum furnace complements the company’s extensive series of furnaces such as integral oil quench, two bar, and six bar vacuums. This novel addition by Solar Manufacturing met all the needs of Robert Wooler. The major attribute of this novel product is its tight tolerance on temperature uniformity, thereby benefiting the company’s dynamic customers of Medical, Aerospace, and Defense industries.
This addition is the tenth vacuum furnace to the company and the total installed investment was estimated to be $600,000. The CEO of Solar Manufacturing, William R. Jones, Wooler’s says that the new furnace was procured following the field service support and technical cooperation between both the companies.
