Arcis Resources, an integrated beneficial reuse and reclamation company, has delivered 35,000 lbs of recycled plastic resin materials to GDC, a total solutions provider for the automotive industry.
GDC will use the recycled polypropylene in the manufacture of OEM automotive components. This is the second recycling program of the company and it represents the increasing efforts made by the leading auto makers and their suppliers to minimize environmental impact of their facilities and products. With the approval of product specifications, Arcis Resources expects to deliver recycled plastic resin pellets to GDC on a monthly basis. The volume ranges between 20,000 lbs to 40,000 lbs.
Arcis Resources’ wholly-owned subsidiary, Mobile Fluid Recovery (MFR), and GDC partnered for the first recycling program in 2010. The program has been launched to recycle polluted oil booms that resulted from the Gulf Oil Spill. Both the companies have been successful in producing more than 100,000 lbs of resin from the reclaimed materials. The patented fluid recovery technology of MFR has been used to remove oil and waste from the booms. The resulting polypropylene material can be converted into a plastic resin, which is used by GDC to produce deflectors for General Motors’ Chevrolet Volt electric car. The program has delivered sufficient polypropylene plastic resin for use in 10,000 cars.
